It’s nearly been two years since one of the most impactful events hit the entire world. And with that, came plenty of changes including remote work, better known as working from home.

At this point, we are no longer strangers to this kind of set-up and it has even benefitted many of us.

So, you may be wondering: how do I level up my home and create a more conducive environment to work? How can I spruce up my living space to have a better home office?

Well, look no further! Here are three simple ways to make your condo fit for a work-from-home lifestyle.

1. Pick the best location

Much like how you selected the apartment you’re residing in, you have to take the location of your home office into serious consideration.

I highly recommend settling in a place that provides ample natural lighting. You will need this for meetings or job interviews that require you to have your camera on.

While it is easy to buy a ring light or the like online, it’s still better to choose a spot by or near a window. Especially when you forget to charge your back-up artificial lighting.

On top of that, you may get a good view in a location like this. Because, let’s be real, working from home can make you feel suffocated from time to time.

So, if you find a place in your condo with an awesome view, you’re set for whenever you need a little breather!

2. Be practical with your furniture and accessories

Especially if you’re on a budget. Spend on what you do need: a chair, desk, and storage. The rest you can save up for and purchase later on.

Should you have a hard time choosing between function over form, go for the former. This doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice aesthetics altogether.

It just means that there are certain objects you will have to invest in. Take an ergonomic chair, for example.

This is a piece of furniture you definitely want to shell out more money for as it directly affects your wellbeing.

So, list down your essential vs optional items. Once you’ve sorted this out, you can decide what style or aesthetic you want for your home office. Then, budget wisely from there.

3. Design and organize

As I’ve mentioned in the previous tip, you are more than welcome to integrate your personal aesthetic when creating your home office.

You can start small with a house plant or sticky notes and a notepad. Or even fairy lights, if that suits your fancy!

If you want to pay a bigger homage to your style, try changing the color of your wall (if you’re allowed to). That’s a surefire way to brighten up your space.

Once you’ve finished the purchasing and designing process, all that’s left to do is organizing your desk. Or at least organizing it in a way that’s best for you.

Now, I know that it can be hard to maintain that for some, but regular decluttering will definitely do wonders.

Final thoughts

So, there you go! I hope that these tips have been useful. Also, don’t be afraid to have fun and put your own spin to them.

As remote work becomes the norm, it’s important to create a sustainable work-from-home set-up. This way, you can achieve work-life balance like a boss.

After all, you deserve a space that makes you feel good no matter where you are in the Philippines, or even in the world.

Here's to claiming our future and taking on opportunities that truly resonate with us!
