As I grew older, I have begun to develop an appreciation for staycations. You don’t go very far, don’t do too much, and just relax. One of my favorite destinations have always been Tagaytay. It’s an hour away from the city, less if you leave very early in the morning or off peak hours on weekdays. The weather is milder, the breeze fresher, the coffee stronger, and a view of the Taal is always a sight to behold.
To celebrate our new partners to help make that Tagaytay staycation easier to plan, here are 6 things you can do on a staycation in Tagaytay that will not break your budget. Don’t worry, we have a different list for days when you want to splurge and reward yourself a bit more.
Unlimited Coffee at Bag of Beans
If you want to savor the morning breeze or the evening draft with a view of the taal with free flowing coffee, it will only cost you around 150PHP. You can choose between their fragrant house blend or the strong barako that comes fresh from their neighbor city Batangas. Pair their strong coffee with their decadent desserts or with their breakfast meals.

Appreciate Glass Art at Museo Orlina
Ramon Orlina, a pioneer of glass sculptures in the Philippines, showcases his architectural skills using glass a medium. The result is intricate, elegant pieces of art that are truly a feast for the eyes. You can also find his other works using cast bronze, steel, and brass as his medium. The entrance fee costs 100PHP and 80PHP for students and senior citizens

Ilog Maria Bee Farm has been raising bees for about 30 years. You can find ripe, unfiltered honey, pollen pellets, propolis, royal jelly, honey cider vinegar and other bee products. They also offer a variety of products including aromatherapy oils, handmade soaps, and bath salts. The farm offers tours from 8:00AM to 10AM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. You can also do a self tour, a walking tour of the farm for 25PHP per person, from 9:00AM to 4:00PM on Tuesdays to Sundays.

Buy Fresh Produce at the Mahogany Market
Tagaytay’s weather permits farming beautiful produce. You can find fresh lettuce, oyster mushrooms, peppers, edible flowers, and very good quality beef if you come early. You can also find a lot of seedlings for different herbs, fruits, and flowers for your garden. You can also get a bag of coffee in the market for cheap.

Try Out Tagaytay’s Bulalo
Tagaytay is famous for it’s bone marrow soup bulalo. The overlooking restaurants will charge you up to 700 for an order that can serve 3-5. The second floor of Mahogany market houses a number of small “carinderias” selling the soup for half that price. You also get free eat-all-you-can señorita bananas, a small variety that packs a lot of sweetness, and unlimited kapeng barako - made strong the way locals consume it.
